Nokia and Extreme Broadband Partner to Enhance Secure Data Centers in Malaysia
Nokia and Extreme Broadband Join Forces to Secure and Future-Proof Malaysian Data Centers
Nokia has announced a strategic collaboration with Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary, Open DC, aimed at significantly upgrading the security, reliability, and performance of data centers across Malaysia. This initiative supports the country's National Cloud Computing Policy and addresses the growing needs of industries such as banking and finance in Malaysia’s dynamic digital economy.
Strengthening Network Performance and Security
Under the new agreement, Nokia’s advanced Data Center Gateway, Data Center Fabric, and quantum-safe networking solutions will play a central role in modernizing Open DC’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data centers. The upgrade will interconnect six data centers located in key regions, including Cyberjaya, Johor Bahru, Penang, and Kedah. The result will be a more secure, resilient network infrastructure that meets stringent industry standards and supports the diverse requirements of enterprises.
Advancing Operational Efficiency and Scalability
The deployment will empower Extreme Broadband and Open DC to offer high-performance services, optimize operational efficiency, and address future enterprise demands—particularly for sectors requiring robust data protection and network resilience. Nokia’s solutions, such as the 7250 Interconnect Router and 7220 Interconnect Routers, are designed to boost energy efficiency while facilitating seamless multi-cloud connectivity and state-of-the-art DDoS protection.
Focus on Quantum-Safe Networks and Innovation
Nokia and EBB have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaboratively develop data center solutions and quantum-safe networks. This partnership will see joint efforts in developing enterprise connectivity, conducting rigorous testing, and driving innovation in network automation and security.
Supporting Malaysia’s Digital Ambitions
Nokia’s leadership in network technology and EBB’s commitment to innovative connectivity position both companies as pivotal players in Malaysia’s digital transformation. The collaboration enables them to support enterprise market performance, minimize investment risks in IT infrastructure upgrades, and provide new opportunities for businesses as the country continues to accelerate its digital economy agenda.
